The contractor from Chicago, Skender, is working on building construction projects from modular construction. Later, each apartment unit that will be built is arranged first, through mass production at the factory. Modular buildings are then transported and arranged in the planned location. The first building will be built in the West Loop area, Chicago.

The apartment building of this series of modular apartments will be built as high as six floors with a total of 110 units. Not only used as a place to live, this building will also function as a hotel room. The company also hired the services of 10 architects and interior designers to design each residential unit. “We want to see buildings as products in the future,” said Skender CEO Mark Skender.

In designing this stadium, Foster + Partners took on the theme of vernacular, in which the stadium model is a picture of the traditions and skills of the citizens of Qatar. Launching Designboom, this shape is inspired by a typical Arabic lantern called Fanar, which is in a bowl with intricate unique decorations.

The shape of the bowl or what is known as the gold vessel is the result of playing light and shadow, so that it reflects the unique shape of the fanatic lantern. After the tournament, the stadium will be a public space complete with schools, shops, sports facilities and health. For that, some parts of the stadium are designed with a modular concept. The construction of the stadium is planned to be completed in 2020. The location of the stadium is about 15 kilometers from the center of Doha City and will be a new attraction for residents in Lusail City.

The city of Lusail is one of the new destinations in Qatar. After three years, the construction of the UCCA Dune Art Museum in China was finally completed. UCCA Dune Art Museum is a contemporary exhibition space built under the surface of the sand dunes on the seafront. Visitors can enter through a long tunnel that is connected to eight artificial caves. Each cave is used as a gallery that displays various contemporary works of art.

The museum building is built to resemble the shape of a concrete shell formed from wood formwork, while the inner wall is decorated with abstract textures. Abstract textures on the walls are made as a reminder that the museum building was built manually. In addition, the building is also equipped with cafes and gathering rooms. The cafe room is designed facing directly to the sea, so that visitors can enjoy the beachfront views.

Not only a cafe, the roof of the building also offers views of the surrounding coastline. Visitors can go up to the roof via a spiral concrete staircase located inside the building. From above, there are several openings that serve to provide natural lighting to all corners of the building. Openings on the roof also serves to connect the interior to the atmosphere outside the building.

The idea of ​​designing a building below the sand dunes came from an OPEN Architecture firm. Besides being unique, the museum located below the surface is able to maintain the existence of the hill naturally. The 930 square meter building also remains cool during the summer. OPEN Architecture also adds some special details along the museum room. Even eight cafe tables in this museum are also designed by OPEN.
